Huda Al Quran begins this week (Information for parents)

20 Oct

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

assalam alikum wa Rahmatullah wa barakatuh

We are excited to launch Huda Al Quran as one of Victoria Islamic Foundation Initiative (VIFI) programs at Masjid Al Iman powered by the BCMA. Please note this Arabic conducted program will be coordinated by Brother Muhammed Firas Daudy in terms of its operation and curriculum.

You are receiving this email because you have registered your child in the VIFI-Huda al Quran program to attend classes in person at the Masjid. By now you should have all received communication from Brother Firas on which day and which cohort your child will be attending on a weekly basis at the Masjid.

This email contains everything you need to know at the start of every term and school year as we resume in person classes at the masjid.  Please take the time to read this important information

VIFI Governing Objectives this year:
  • To ensure the Health and Safety of all Teachers, Volunteers and Students
  • To provide Fair and Equal opportunity for all students in the community.
  • To continue to offer structured Islamic Education programs to Children through Masjid Al Iman
  • To continue to keep children connected to the masjid safely( by reviewing guidelines termly)
  • To continue to keep programs sustainable and manageable.

Guidelines for all classes run at the masjid

In order to minimize the number of students per session:
  • We have formed a cohort system to minimize the number of students at a time per session with upto 6 students per cohort and we have scheduled  upto 2 cohorts for each session in either the basement or women's section at a time. This will allow room for physical distancing during class time.
In order to minimize physical interaction :
  • Each session is reduced to one hour and fifteen minutes from 5.00-6.15pm.
  • We have assigned  only one teacher per cohort to teach both Quran and Arabic so children will not need to transition from class to class and this helps with contact tracing.
  • Snacks will NOT be provided this term but parents can send their child with a small snack bar and a water bottle if necessary.
Strict Hygiene and safety Routines
  • Mandatory routine of Hand sanitizing and washing hands upon entry and when leaving the class.
  • All parents, Teachers, Students and Supervisors are required to wear masks  upon entry and leaving the masjid, when going to the washroom, or during salah. Masks are not required during the class/instruction time for the teachers and their cohorts.
  • Teachers will be disinfecting and wiping down the tables and chairs before and after class time.
COVID Risk Assumption:

As you registered for the return of this program this term you were asked to fill out the COVID risk assumption form. If you need to review that or get more information please see attached.

Maintenance routines Implemented at the Masjid
  • In collaboration with the maintenance teams from the brothers and sisters side, the basement and women's section including stairways, elevators and door handles will be disinfected on a daily basis after every session. If you are interested in helping with this task, please contact Brother Firas and we can schedule you between 7-8pm on any day from Monday to Saturday.
  • Weekly deep cleaning is done on Thursday and Friday evenings.
  • A ventilation system has been installed in the basement and cables have been safely secured in the women's section.
Class Schedules

Classes are scheduled to begin this week. See information about which cohort your child has been assigned to here: Huda Al Quran Cohorts (Term 1 2020)

Drop off and pick up at either the basement or women's section
  • Since classes will now be taking place in both the basement and women's section, Monday and Thursday classes are in the basement and Tuesday classes are in the women's section. Please pick up and drop off your child in the correct location.
  • Parents should drop and pick up their child on time as there will be no supervision 5 minutes before or after classes
  • Parents will NOT be allowed to wait or linger around in the stairways or in the basement and women's section. Once you drop off your child, you will need to kindly leave the building , or father can wait in the mens section, to avoid too many people in the masjid at any time.

Monthly fees

For students in all programs and levels, there is a minimum monthly feel of $30 a month/ $50 for 2 children/ $25 for additional siblings. Fees are due by mid  of each month for Huda Al Quran program.
The method of payment includes:
  • Option 1: Online, through Masjid Al Iman donation link: You can also access this through the BCMA app. Once you have made the minimum payment please email the receipt to vifi.register@gmail.com to be recorded and transferred into the education account.   https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=EAEGNRYMA3XLG
  • Option 2: Debit Machine at the Masjid: If your child is attending classes in person you can use this option.

Supply list for students in each program

Previously we have been providing all the supplies for kids but to reduce contact and sharing this year, we request parents to send specific supplies with their kids. Please see the supply list here. and scroll down to the bottom for Huda Al Quran students: Student Supply list

Dress code at the masjid

This remains the same as in previous years for all students attending in person.
Girls: long tops, dresses, skirts or loose clothing/Abaya for older girls including head covering
Boys: Long pants and a shirt that is long enough to cover bottoms when praying, or simply wearing a Thawb/other Islamic clothing.

We look forward to seeing the kids again and having a safe return to the Masjid this term by the will  of Allah. We expect to learn many new things along the way, as this is new for all of us but  as we continue to work together from Parents, Supervisors, Teachers, and students we will be able to manage as a community.

If you have any questions please continue to communicate with Brother Firas regarding this program

JazaKAllah Kheiran, and we thank you for your continued cooperation

On Behalf of the VIFI Management,

Sincerely,
Shazia Rashid
VIFI Programs Coordinator.
