The BC Muslim Association condemns in the strongest terms the recent tirade of xenophobic and Islamophobic comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron. In particular, the Organization strongly condemns the sanctioning of derogatory caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). All prophets of God are revered figures for Muslims and any insulting, mocking, or derogatory remarks directed towards a prophet of God is unacceptable to Muslims.
We call upon the Prime Minister of Canada to condemn the Islamophobic comments made by the French President. We also call upon the Muslim community to utilize all available resources to peacefully voice their indignation until such a time the French President apologizes for his unacceptable behaviour and comments.
The BC Muslim Association at the same time also strongly condemns any form of violence and aggression towards humanity.
