Fiji Flood Urgent Appeal 2021

5 Feb

The Situation

Just over a month after the severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa, another Tropical Cyclone Ana hit Fiji causing landfalls, heavy destruction to buildings, livestock, and agriculture. The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) estimated that 21,000 households, comprising of 93,000 people, have been directly affected by TC Yasa. Once again, “Tropical Cyclone Ana, the 2nd in a month exits Fiji - leaving behind a difficult recovery,”

More than 10,000 people remain in emergency evacuation centers after torrential rain and strong winds caused severe flooding and widespread damage to buildings, crops, and public infrastructure. There are still three months remaining before the end of Fiji’s cyclone season, which lasts from November to April.

How can you help?

In response, the BC Muslim Association (BCMA) has launched this appeal in partnership with International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) and our local partner, the Fiji Muslim League (FML), to provide urgent food and hygiene items to over 3,000 identified and most affected persons.

Your generous donation will provide support to the most vulnerable with essential food and hygiene package, Household items, School stationery, and rebuild damaged homes and schools in the most affected areas. For more information, please contact BCMA head office.
