On Friday August 13th, the BCMA Chilliwack Islamic Centre (CIC) had a visit from the City of Chilliwack Mayor, Ken Popove and the BCMA President, Iltaf Sahib. The BCMA VP for Media & Public Relations, Br. Tariq Tyab arranged this meeting with the help of CIC administrator, Sr. Maria, and with the local Khateeb, Dr. Ebesh and Br. Umar Mukhtar.
Br. Iltaf Sahib, who had met the Mayor a few weeks before while presenting the cheque for the Lytton Fire Victims, thanked the Mayor for his kind visit to CIC and introduced him to the congregation. The Mayor addressed everyone and acknowledged our future needs for a more permanent place for the growing Muslim population.
The BCMA Chilliwack Islamic Centre is currently planning to actively raise funds to acquire a property for their growing population and efforts are underway to plan a united effort to get this future project underway.
